The content in this real estate site can be maintained by the Alpena area real estate agent (sales person) or broker using only a Web browser. This includes the ability to create new pages, delete pages and change pages as well as the ability to maintain real estate listings. The format of the displayed real estate listings can be customized for the realtor. The listing database and listing search options can also be customized for the realtor.
In addition to the typical information needed to describe homes, lots and acreage for sale, the update process permits entry and public display of open houses, listing change notifications and other promotional information for a property. This information is associated with "display until" dates so that expired information is not displayed. A summary of this information is shown in the Announcements column and more details on the Announcements page.
The listing will automatically stop displaying when the listing has expired.
The update process permits upload of as many property photos as needed. Since the photo update system automatically sizes and compresses photos, these photos can be uploaded directly from a digital camera. Displayed property photos are automatically optimized for fast download and will work well with slow dial-up connections.
The Alpena Michigan real estate site includes a process for creating realtor newsletters and an opt-in and opt-out process for e-mailed newsletter distribution. The weekly newsletter is automatically sent to subscribers and contains custom announcements from the realtor, information regarding changed (new, sold, pending, price change, etc.) listings, information about open houses, and, information required by the Federal CAN-SPAM Act.
The realtor may belong to an MLS. If that's the case, and the MLS offers an online search service (IDX) that can be integrated into the site, this integration will be included in the customization price.

The design of the system attempts to maximize the formatting capabilities built into Web browsers. The displayed page will adjust to the window size and the browser's View / Text size option allows someone with poor eyesight to increase the font size. The site is designed to display on 800 dot or wider monitors without the need for horizontal scrolling.
During the evaluation period, we'll provide a login for the Administration page that will allow a realtor to test drive the update processes.
We will only customize one site like this within a realtor's marketing area and there is a $4,000 fee for initial customization of the site.
